Abstract

The aim of the study was to establish the structure of the symptom complex, which characterizes the depressive state in patients with hypothyroidism, and also to determine the
possibilities for its correction. Materials and methods. 25 patients with postoperative hypothyroidism, thyroid status in which the offset via L-thyroxine, using data on the presence and severity of symptoms of depression Beck Depression Scale were obtained. Testing was performed before and after treatment of Cefavora for one month. Results. The performed calculations revealed that the average total score in the patients examined (28.1±3.24) is in a range which corresponds to the presence of moderate severity pronounced depression (20-29 points). After a course of Cefavora total score was significantly decreased to 16.9±2.37 (p<0.01) and fell into the range of mild depression. There was an increase of patients at different points «scale» rated themselves within normal limits: on average, such cases have increased from 6.04±1.72 to 11.24±1.56 (p<0.05). Conclusions. The scale of Beck depression is suitable for use in examining patients with hypothyroidism. The drug Cefavora can be considered promising in the treatment of depression on the background of postoperative hypothyroidism.
