Abstract

Currently all kinds of endocrine surgical operations are performed using the welding technology in State Institution «V.P. Komisarenko Institute of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Natl. Acad. of Med. Sci. of Ukraine». This study is aimed to compare the results obtained by traditional surgical technique (comparative group) with those obtained by using the welding technology. Materials and methods. The duration of surgery intervention, blood loss, postoperative pain syndrome, duration of postoperative hospitalization, intra- and postoperative complications, and histological changes in removed tissues were compared. Results. Usage of the welding technology allows to decrease the mean operating time
by 20-30%, to reduce the level of intraoperative blood loss by 30-50%, and the subjective assessment of patients with the intensity of postoperative pain syndrome, analgesics consumption by 20%, the duration of the postoperative hospital stay of patients for 1-2 days. Intraoperative bleeding events were developed in patients of the control group more often; no significant difference between postoperative complications were registered. According to the histological characteristics of the removed tissues, the changes were minimal
in the area of electrowelding, whereas wide areas of necrosis and thrombogenesis were determined in preparations of the comparison group in the area of influence of diathermocoagulation. Conclusion. Usage of the welding technology in endocrine surgery may be effective, safe and universal method for organ mobilization and haemostasis.
