Organ-preserving surgeries in highly differentiated thyroid carcinomas

Abstract

The results of long-term observation (up to 19 years) of patients with papillary (139 patients) and follicular (11 patients) thyroid carcinomas, who underwent organ- preserving surgeries in SI «V. Komissarenko Institute of Endocrinology and Metabolism of NAMS of Ukraine» during years from 1993 to 2011 are considered. No  reoccurrence of the disease with different follow-up period was registered in 147 from 150 patients (98,0%), what gives evidence that performing of organ-preserving  surgeries in selected cases of differentiated thyroid carcinomas is possible.
