Abstract

It has been established in an experimental study on mature male rabbits, that in the presence of hypopinealism induced by long-term (during 5 months) day and  night lighting (day – sunlight, night – 30-40 lux electric lighting), the following set of components of metabolic syndrome was developing: abdominal obesity, insulin  resistance, impaired glucose tolerance and arterial hypertension. It should be stressed that the dynamics of changes in these disturbances was time-dependent: in  different periods after starting the experiment a maximal increase was noted in the following indices: after two months in basal insulinemia; after three months in  weight of abdominal-visceral fat; after five months in blood serum glucose level and blood pressure.
