Abstract

Our data showed that diabetic nephropathy (DN) is accompanied by significant growth of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MСP-1) in blood plasma of patients with the initial stages of the disease. Progressing of the disease went along with the further increase of MСP-1 concentration in patients with advanced
stages of DN. The revealed increase of MСP-1 blood plasma level in patients with DN may be a marker of inflammatory and sclerotic changes in renal tissue and causes more active application of specific anti-inflammatory therapy for these patients.
