Selenium and thyroid gland (literature review and data of own investigations)

Abstract

The review presents data on the role of selenium (in particular, selenoproteins) in the development of thyroid diseases. A particular attention is paid to the influence of  moderate selenium deficiency on increasing prevalence of thyroid pathology, including diseases with focal changes within the thyroid, in Sumy City and Krolevets District  of Sumy region.
