Abstract

The analysis of the examination of thyroid and parathyroid glands in the group of people who came to the thyroid ultrasound on their own decision, without  complaint, without first consulting a medical specialist, the principle of individual preventive screening. Ultrasound examination of the thyroid gland with parallel control of ionized  calcium level in the blood, performed in a single medical facility, revealed nodal thyroid and parathyroid pathology in 78 of the 232 surveyed (33.6%). The following  diagnostic tests have established the need for surgical treatment of 16 of 78 patients ( 20.5%): 12 – with nodular thyroid disease and 4 – with parathyroid adenoma.
