Abstract
Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common rheumatic diseases. Etiology and pathogenesis of OA are not fully understood to date. The metabolic syndrome, including insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes, are important in the development and progression of OA. Understanding the pathogenesis of these diseases will help to improve early diagnosis and timely treatment, what is very important in reducing disability in these patients and improving quality of life.
